Quality in Manufacturing has been around for a long time. From the early days of Henry Ford’s mass-produced cars to W. Edwards Deming’s work in Japan’s manufacturing sector in the 1960’s to the Total Quality Management (TQM) methodology in the 80’s to todays practices such as ISO 9000, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. The manufacturing world understands and appreciates the importance of Product Quality. This is, unfortunately, not the case in the IT world when it comes to Data Quality.
